Our first stop is Curium, one of the most important archaeological sites of the island. Here you will see the ancient Greco-Roman theatre where gladiator games took place and the House of Eustolios with its mosaics and bath establishments. Driving towards Paphos, we stop at a viewpoint above Aphrodite’s Rock, which is the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty and love. Light a candle at the holiest monastery of the Island” An explorer's trip through the Green heart of Cyprus in a Mini bus. We commence our adventure travelling through the rugged hills and valleys, traditional villages and pine forests reaching some of the most remote places on the Island. The tour continues through the Troodos mountains until we reach Kykkos Monastery which was founded by the Byzantines in 1092. Kykkos is renowned for its wealth and features gold icons, preserved frescoes and bright mosaics. The monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and also possesses one of the three surviving icons ascribed to Saint Luke. The miraculous icon, which is covered in silver gilt and enclosed in a shrine of tortoise shell and mother-of-pearl, holds an eminent position in the church NOTE: Modest attire is strongly advised when visiting monasteries and churches, i.e. no shorts or low-cut blouses. We continue to the village of Pedoulas where you can enjoy an optional lunch overlooking the village from on high. An off-road drive will bring us to the waterfalls surrounded by lush green vegetation and cool spring waters in which you can take a splash. We end our journey with a visit to a winery with free wine tasting. Several photo stops will be made along the journey for your chance to take panoramic photos.
