Join us for a bus trip to the ‘Ghost Town’ of Famagusta.
The town lies on the eastern side of the Island, trapped in a time-warp since the Turkish invasion in Cyprus, of 1974. On our way to Famagusta we stop at the church of Saint Barnabas, the founder of the Cypriot Orthodox Church, where you will have the chance to visit the tomb of Saint Barnabas who was martyred in the area in 52 AD. To book this tour online please go to our new website: https://guestisland.com/
Our trip continues with a visit to the ancient city-kingdom of Salamis, founded right after the Trojan War by the archer Teucer who came from the Greek island of Salamis. Time will be given for a guided tour around the archeological site which includes a beautiful ancient Greek theatre. A €6,00 per person entrance fee is charged for these two sites (St Barnabas & Salamis) only cash and to be paid on the day of the excursion – not included in the price of the excursion.
We also stop at the Golden Beach for a swim – so please bring your swimsuits, towels and suntan lotion.
We then drive to Famagusta where free time will be given for lunch (optional extra) and sightseeing. During your free time there, a walk around the old town within the Venetian Walls and a visit to the Gothic Church of Saint Nicholas is highly recommended! On our way back we drive close to the ‘Ghost Town’, the sealed-off area of Famagusta.
MEALS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE
